This London Armory Kerr Patent revolver was owned by Jefferson Davis and given to Captain Given Campbell, commander of Davis’ personal escort. The frame of the revolver is engraved, “Presented to Given Campbell by Pres. Jefferson Davis Prest. C.S.A. on May 4, 1865.” Associated with this five-shot revolver is Campbell’s handwritten diary detailing events from March 1865 to May 10, 1865, as well as other related provenance documentation. The only president of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis was captured by Union cavalry on May 10, 1865.
